Black and white pen and ink drawings portraying the history and nostalgia of the old west.
The Bill O'Neill originals are actually a compilation of little tiny "dots". This form of art is called "Pointillism" and due to the tediousness, patience and time required, pointillism is a seldom seen form of artistic expression.
Each original is 30" x 40" and took at least a year to complete. This does not take into account all of the research and pre-sketching Bill did before he even started an original. He always wanted every detail to be as accurate and true to life as he could possibly make it.
We use a method of reproduction known as 'off-set' printing. This particular process produces the best and clearest renditions possible. In fact, every picture is about as close to the original, in terms of clarity and quality, as we can possibly achieve.
Our main goal is to provide very fine art at an affordable price. We hope we have met or exceeded your expectations.
We truly appreciate your interests in the remarkable art that Bill has created. Thank you very much for your time and interest.
Interview Q&A
How long have you been in business?
We have been in business for over 40 years and look forward to at least another 40.
What is your primary product or service?
Our main objective is to provide quality art at a very affordable price.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
"I had engineering and architectural training which prepared me for various types of intricate art. While in the service in the army, my engineering buddies sent my cartoons to the Pacific Stars and Stripes. This was a kick-off for a life of commercial illustration with leading magazines, newspapers, graphic design companies, department stores, engineering, mining and construction companies. I was lucky enough to have the gift and ability to transform my love of nature and history into pieces of art which others enjoy." Bill O'Neill
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
We believe the frenzy of everyday life leads people to yearn for a simpler time. Our customers have related that this is one of the reasons Bill's art appeals to them. It enables them to reminisce about an uncomplicated time and place amid the solitude and comfort of nature.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
We are lucky enough to have locations all over the world. We would like to expand to the point that every person in the world has at least one of our pieces of art.
What type of payments do you accept?
Check, cash, Visa, Master Card and Discover credit cards. We do not accept puppies, kittens or gold fish in trade for our art.
Which areas do you service?
We are very fortunate in the fact that our art is collected and appreciated all over the world.
Who owns your company or runs daily operations?
Linda O'Neill Sprague owns and operates our business. Bill and I were married for many years and together we raised a family of three girls, one boy, one dog and many gerbils, fish and guinea pigs. Bill was an unforgettable and charismatic character. However, since the mid 1990's Bill began his struggle with a horrible incapacitating neurological disease. Sadly, on June 13, 1999, the disease won the battle and Bill lost. For all who were lucky enough to have known him, we will forever miss him and will always admire his bravery and the unfailing courage with which he accepted his fate.
What are your hours of operation?
24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year (366 days every four years).
What is the best compliment anyone can give you?
Appreciation. It is not easy to fake the sincerity of it. Appreciation comes from the heart and conveys a communication which is not transmittable in words, but in feelings and emotions.
What is your favorite quote or Bible verse?
"I've learned that people will forget what you said. People will forget what you did. But people will never forget how you made them feel."
Maya Angelou
